My Simple Womans Daybook
FOR TODAY: Happy Halloween
Outside my window . . . It's raining out there today. Not as bad as snow, I know but have decided that the Snowbirds must be bringing all this bad weather with them from up North.
I am thinking . . . I haven't posted anything since last Monday so that means it's been a rather boring week.
I am thankful . . . For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.
From the learning rooms . . . (if this applies)
In the kitchen . . .
I am wearing . . . navy blue sweats, maroon duofold top and slippers
I am creating . . .
I am going . . . to start getting my 'cold clothes' out of storage and giving them a fresh wash.
I am wondering . . . what happened to the Halloween party that we were supposed to have today?
I am reading . . .
I am hoping . . . that the rain stops in time for the kids to trick or treat tonight.
Around the house . . . ironing is on the menu today.
I am pondering . . . What am I ready to tackle this Fall? What changes or fixes have I been putting off?
One of my favorite things . . . a grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup
A few plans for the rest of the week . . . All Saints Day Mass on Tuesday, Hand & Foot Tournament followed by card Bingo on Wednesday, Dahli to the groomer on Thursday

I am thankful . . . for everything that went right today.
From the learning rooms . . . (if this applies)
In the kitchen . . . is all cleaned up after a dinner of chicken, red skin potatoes & brussel sprouts.
I am wearing . . . jeans, a pink tee and slippers
I am creating . . .
I am going . . . to paint the final coat on the driveway tomorrow
I am wondering . . . why oh why I ever started this driveway project.
I am reading . . . the directions on paint cans.
I am hoping . . . the last coat of paint goes on w/o any problems.
Around the house . . . getting behind inside because I'm working outside.
I am pondering . . . What things or activities do I need to start saying “no” to? What is it that’s draining my energy?
One of my favorite things . . . Mondays and My Simple Womans Daybook
A few plans for the rest of the week . . . painting the drive will probably take the next couple days. Thursday is another doctor appointment and on Friday I plan to go to the farm.

My Simple Womans Daybook
FOR TODAY: Published this one on Oct. 18th.
Outside my window . . . It's a downright dreary day out there. There's no rain or wind but definitely no sun either. We have some changes in the weather coming and none of it sounds good.
I am thinking . . . that I overdid things yesterday. Bob Noyes pressure washed the driveway and sidewalk on Saturday. Yesterday I did the acid wash and will tape the edges of everything today.
From the learning rooms . . . I've learned a lot about how to prepare a concrete driveway for painting.
In the kitchen . . .
Easy Apple Crisp
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
2 teasp. lemon juice
1/4 cup water
1/2 teasp. cinnamon
5-6 peeled, sliced large apples
3/4 cup flour
1/4 teasp. salt
6 tablesp. unsalted butter (NO substitute)
Directions
Combine 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, water and cinnamon in bottom of small baking pan. Slice in apples. Blend remaining 1/2 cup sugar, flour, salt and butter until crumbly. Spread over apples and pat smooth. Bake at 375°F. for 40-50 minutes, until apples are tender and crust is browned.
Thanks to Toni for the recipe.
I am wearing . . . jean bermudas, a blue Fresh Produce tee and footlets.
I am creating . . .
I am going . . . the Doctor today to have the staples removed and the pacemaker checked.
I am wondering . . . if it's gonna rain today as predicted.
I am reading . . .
I am hoping . . . that I can stay away from Doctor's for a while.
Around the house . . . another load of whites in the washer. Ironing is starting to collect again. Darn!
I am pondering . . . What is holding me back? What keeps getting in my way or holding me back? What clutter can be cleared from my home and life?
One of my favorite things . . . MacIntosh apples
A few plans for the rest of the week . . . Not much planned except for Chris coming on Friday. Can't wait to see what other fun stuff comes my way this week.

My Simple Womans Daybook
FOR TODAY: Medical Issues
Outside my window . . . The sun is shining after a whole weekend of rain and wind. So happy to see Miss Sunshine has decided to visit us again and hope she stays for a long while.
I am thankful . . . that the placement of a pacemaker in my chest went well. I tried sleeping on my left side for short periods of time last night and it was no problem.
From the learning rooms . . . I am reading the instruction booklet that came with the pacemaker and learning tons about the 'do's and don't's' of pacemakers
In the kitchen . . . My sweet friend, Jo brought over a loaf of banana bread yesterday so I'll be having a slice of that for breakfast along with a real egg. The only eggs in the hospital are scrambeled fake eggs.
I am wearing . . . pj's, white hoodie and socks. PLUS a band around my chest to keep me from raising my left arm.
I am going . . . to a potluck at the Community Hall tomorrow evening
I am wondering . . . how long it's gonna take to charge my golf cart. Seems to be taking longer & longer.
I am hoping . . . that the golf cart won't need new batteries.
Around the house . . . the outside electrical outlet and lampost light haven't worked since Bob washed my house last week. I need to call him about that.
I am pondering . . . (continuation from last week)What routines would I like to “fall back” into? What are some old hobbies I would like to bring back into my life? What is it that I really miss doing or participating in? Thanks to Barb's Blog for the idea.
One of my favorite things . . . a clam bake. Sooooooooo yummy!
A few plans for the rest of the week . . . the home health nurse will visit each day to check the pacemaker insertion site, playing hand & foot a few evenings this week, painting the shutters I took down & rehanging them.
Here is picture I am sharing . . . Hopefully this picture will not gross anyone out. Sorry if it does. Anyway, it's a picture of what the pacemaker looks like and how it's placed.

My Simple Womans Daybook
FOR TODAY
Outside my window . . . Our temps are much cooler but . . . the sun is shining . . . the squirrels are chasing each other . . . the birds are singing . . . and the sky is a cloud free perfect blue color.
I am thankful . . . That my car is out of the body shop and looks just great.
From the learning rooms . . . I just learned . . . that my bank (Sun Trust) will start charging fees for using my debit card. I'll be looking for a new bank.
In the kitchen . . .
Did a little baking yesterday. A pineapple upside-down cake. Shared some pieces with my neighbors.
I am wearing . . . pj's, a blue hoodie and socks with an afghan wrapped around my legs.
I am creating . . . starting a Charles Wysocki puzzle today called: Singing Piemaker's. This one seems to be celebrating Thanksgiving. I just love Thanksgiving so I'll love putting this one together.
I am going . . . to be running some errands today.
I am wondering . . . if Bob Noyes will be washing my house down today. No sign of him yet and it's 8:40 all ready. Perhaps he's waiting for it to warm up a bit.
I am reading . . . No new novels. Finished reading the Sunday paper but haven't clipped the coupons yet.
I am hoping . . . that Amanda Knox is set free by the Italian court. That all my friends that have medical problems right now will be blessed with a speedy and complete recovery.
Around the house . . . The new Florida room needs a quick clean. Hope to get that done this morning.
I am pondering . . . What is it I want right now? How can I be even more true to myself? What can I do to surround myself with more beauty? What do I need to do to feel closer to the Savior? Found this at Blog'sBlog
One of my favorite things . . . Thanksgiving.
A few plans for the rest of the week . . . I need to take my trust paper's to the dealership, get a pile of stuff to the recycle bins, hair appt. on Wednesday, Dahli to the groomer on Thursday followed by a quick trip to the Vet for Dahli's flu shot & a trip to the farm on Friday. Dick would like to go to the movies to see Dolphin Tale. We also have a 40% off coupon for dinner at Disney that has to be used by the end of this month.

My Simple Womans Daybook
FOR TODAY: It's my sons birthday. Hope yours is a wonderful day, Matthew.
Outside my window . . . It's the middle of the night and so dark outside. For some reason, I can't seem to sleep so I decided to get up and do something useful instead of laying there just tossing and turning.
I am thinking . . . that I don't know why I can't sleep. This is one of my least favorite things to happen. There's really nothing like a good night's sleep and it distresses me when that doesn't happen.
I am thankful . . . for the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.
From the learning rooms . . . I am learning to take the negatives in my life and look at them in a positive way.
In the kitchen . . . roasted chicken with potatoes and carrots for dinner tonight
I am wearing . . . blue pj's and a blue hoodie
I am creating . . . a new Charles Wysocki puzzle named "Singing Piemakers"
I am going . . . to catch up on laundry today.
I am wondering . . . if it will take a long time to get the dent in the door of the new car fixed.
I am reading . . . and reviewing my legal docs. Do you have all the documents you need? Suze Orman says we all MUST have 5 important documents: a revocable trust, a will, a durable power of attorney, a power of attorney for health care & a living will. I have all 5 of them but need to have the lawyer make some changes.
I am hoping . . . that Matthew has a wonderful birthday today.
Around the house . . . it needs a quick clean today or tomorrow.
I am pondering . . . how the heck I missed seeing the big pole which I backed the car against which resulted in a big scrape on the side of my brand new car. I hate backing up.
One of my favorite things . . . is being accident free.
A few plans for the rest of the week . . . the insurance adjuster will check the damage to the car & the car will be repaired, playing cards on Monday evening, playing Bunco at the Shriner's on Tuesday, calling cardBingo on Wednesday, a quiet Thursday and playing cards on Friday. Sounds (looks) like a lot but it's really not.
Here is picture I am sharing . . . my new car, of course.

My Simple Womans Daybook
FOR TODAY
Outside my window . . . the sun is shinning and the birds are singing. Looks to me like another beautiful day in Florida
I am thinking . . . that Grandparents Day was overshadowed by 9/11 yesterday. Hardly anyone mentioned it.
I am thankful . . . that everyone played nice yesterday (9/11) and that no terrorist ruined the 10th year commemorations
From the learning rooms . . . (if this applies)
In the kitchen . . . baked potato, salmon pattie, peas and applesauce for dinner tonight
I am wearing . . . tan bermudas, lavender tee and footies
I am creating . . . a new Charles Wysocki puzzle named "Hellraisers on Halloween Night"
I am going . . . to the endocrinologist on Tuesday.
I am wondering . . . if he will tell me that my Ca++ levels are back to normal.
I am reading . . . yesterday's Sun News. Time for coupon clipping.
I am hoping . . . that we can plan something special for Christopher's birthday on Friday.
Around the house . . . laundry all done yesterday. Ironing patiently waiting.
I am pondering . . . how all of those who lost loved ones on that horrible day 10 years ago have survived their losses.
One of my favorite things . . . are Charles Wysocki puzzles
A few plans for the rest of the week . . . not much going on. I'm thinking it's time for a quick trip to Ohio sometime after Christopher's birthday.
Here is picture I am sharing . . .
